Cheese and Chilli Hotdogs Recipe

Ingredients:
- 4-5 hotdog rolls
- 4-5 hot dog vienna’s, steamed/grilled and split open
- 1 cup grated Clover Elite cheddar cheese
- 2 japalenos, sliced
- For the chilli
- 1 onion, chopped
- 500g beef mince
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- salt and pepper to taste
- For the cheese sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1-2 cup fresh milk
- 1-2 cups Clover Elite Tussers or cheddar cheese, grated
- salt and pepper to taste
How To Make Cheese and Chilli Hotdogs
- Prepare the hotdog rolls by scattering over the grated cheese and top with sliced jalapenos.
- Bake in the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Set aside and allow to cool.
- Prepare the chilli by heating a glug of oil in a pan and fry the onion. Add the beef mince and break up in the pan.
- Add the garlic, paprika, cumin and stir in the tomato puree.
- Season with salt and pepper and allow to simmer
- Make the cheese sauce by melting butter in a saucepan and stir in the flour.
- Use a whisk to mix and gradually add in the milk.
- Stir in the cheese until melted and season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the hotdogs slicing the cheesy hot dog rolls in half.
- Add the split Vienna’s and top with the cooked chilli.
- Pour over the cheese sauce and garnish with more grated cheese and slices jalapenos.
Chefs Tip: You can also do this with boerewors rolls.
