Pap with Chicken Gravy

Pap with Chicken gravy is a go to dishes. Its perfect for a busy weeknight and a scrumptious way to wake up the tastebuds!

For the pap
2 cups instant maize meal
1 litre water

For the chicken gravy
1 onion, chopped
2 chicken breasts, chopped into small cubes
1 packet brown onion gravy
Salt and pepper to taste


Prepare the pap by bringing the water to boil. Add salt if you want to enhance the taste.
Gradually stir in the maize meal and and cook over low heat, stirring constantly for about 20 minutes, until cooked through.

Prepare the chicken gravy by heating a glug of oil in a large saucepan and sauté the onion for a few minutes. Stir in the chicken and season with salt and pepper. Mix the brown onion gravy according to packet instructions with water and pour over the chicken. Cook until the chicken is cooked through and add more water if too thick. Taste for seasoning and serve with pap.

Chefs Tip: Add some of your favourite herbs and spices to make a scrumptious gravy.
