Pilchards Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 250g Pasta Grande
  • 3 tbsp Great Value Sunflower Oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 can Lucky Star Pilchards
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fresh parsley, optional

How To Make Pilchards Pasta

  1. Cook the pasta according to packaging instructions.
  2. Drain, keeping 1 cup of the pasta water and set aside
  3. Heat a large pan over medium heat. Heat the oil and add the onions, sauté for 2 minutes until soft and translucent.
  4. Add the garlic and spices and sauté for a further minute.
  5. Add the tomatoes and chicken stock. Allow to cook and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Place the pilchards on a flat plate, using a knife and fork, gently cut each fish down the middle to remove and dischard the bones.
  7. Stir the pilchards into the pan, breaking into smaller pieces. Cook for 10 minutes.
  8. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Fold the pasta and cheese until fully incorporated and cheese has melted.
  10. Serve and garnish with fresh parsley.
